The U.S. Agency for International Development announced today it has chosen Catholic Relief Services to direct a group of six agencies to deliver 88 metric tons of emergency food aid to more than a million people suffering severe food shortages in Afar, Amhara, Oromiya, Somali, Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples, and Tigray Regions and the Dire Dawa administrative council.
The development agency delivered 65 million metric tons of cereals, pulses and other food aid to 2 million people through the World Food Program last month, bringing the total in the last five months to $100 million in U.S. food aid to Ethiopia.
