In recognition of International Women's Day, March 8, VOA reporters in Addis Ababa and Mekelle took their microphones to the streets to measure public attitudes toward women.
According to interviews with a policewoman, a nurse, a woman who sells food on the streets of Addis, domestic workers and a prostitute, opportunities have gotten better for woman in several ways: there is now a law that protects women from harassment, and Ethiopia's business and educational institutions have opened their doors to more women.
