Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi says poor nations need more help if they are to achieve the United Nations’ goals to reduce poverty.
Mr. Meles told the United Nations General Assembly that Ethiopia and other developing countries need to reform if they are to grow, but they also need a “clear commitment” of help from rich countries.
He urged the world’s wealthiest nations not to backtrack on their promise to cancel billions of dollars in debt to developing nations.
Mr. Meles spoke on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.
