Legacy of General Alula Aba Nega Debated

To Ethiopians Alula Aba Nega was a national war hero. He was a governor of Eritrea in the 19th century, who they say fiercely defended their country from foreign invaders. Eritreans on the other hand describe him as a brutal ruler. Dr. Geladewos Araya, calls Alula Aba Nega an admired figure in Ethiopian and international politics.
