Land and Farming Are Major Voter Issues

Government policies regarding land distribution and agricultural practices are the most important issues in the coming May 23 parliamentary elections, according to an Addis Ababa University law lecturer.

“Most Ethiopians liver in the countryside and subsist on farming, so the political party with the right farm policies will improve life in Ethiopia,” the lecturer told VOA.So, voters should pay attention to policies that address land, farming, the price of food and the alleviation of poverty, the faculty member said.“Any party with the right agenda to create jobs and minimize price hike will be a good competitor.”

Voters should focus on these issues, not the personalities of the politicians, said the lecturer, who asked not to be identified in the interview.
