Only a last-minute agreement can salvage the global meeting in Copenhagen.
Several environmental journalists gathered for the second round of Horn of Africa service’s round table discussion to summarize the news reports of the two-week U.N. Climate Change Conference and and assess its some what disappointing earlier outcomes of the day as it is ending.
The only remaining hope for meaningful decisions rested with a closed-door meeting of 19 leading nations, which includes the United States, India, China and some of the major industrialized nations. The journalists discussed so far unfulfilled hopes of African countries.
The reporters’ roundtable included Tewodros Negash, who reported on the conference for the Horn of Africa service; environmental journalist Aregaw Ashine, VOA Amharic environmental broadcaster Solomon Abate and the roundtable host, Alula Kebede.
