The author of book about a history of the liberation movements in Tigray and Eritrea told VOA that he can’t find a printer for his book.

Asrat Abraham, a founding member of Arena Tigray, claims two publishers backed out of agreements due to interference by the officials of Ethiopia’s ruling EPRDF. Now, he can’t find a printer. The book alleges that he Eritrean People’s Liberation Movement created the Tigray People’s Liberation Front.

Asrat, who is now a spokesman Arena Tigray, wrote "Troy's Horse & its Mission" about the historical relationships between the two liberation movements that joined to defeat Ethiopia’s Mengstu Hailemariam regime. The TPLF is now the principal force in the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front.

The author said Far East Trading and Printing printed the book but refused to deliver the copies and returned Asrat’s 10,000-birr deposit. He says another printer, Eleni Printing, wanted to get government's approval before doing the job, but Asrat refused and the agreement was never completed.

Wagaye Alemneh, general manager of Far East Trading and Printing, says that there was no third-party interference and it was his own decision to refuse to print the book. Wagaye gave no explanation for the basis of his decision.

Alula Kebede interviewed the author, Asrat Abraham and publisher Wagaye Alemneh for VOA Amharic. (Click on the links on the side to listen to the two pars program).

"We are protesting because the sanctions were never based on substantiated allegations," said Sofia Tesfamariam, an organizer of the Monday demonstrations. "We haven't seen the evidence. They are unable to bring in the proof. On the contrary, there is ample proof that the Ethiopian government and the U.S are arming the Somalis."

Some Ethiopians and Somalis also participated to "condemn the Ethiopian government for committing genocide in Ethiopia including in Ogaden region.” Tewelde Weldeghebriel reported the event where Eritreans handed over to State Department officials a petition they said contained 107,000 signatures.
